Francis Heery

Red Earth White Cairo is Andreas Voccia and Francis Heery a duo specialising in improvised music for modular synthesisers and live electronic processing. In this project the musicians set out to meld dark Romanticism with free improvisation aesthetics, using minimalism and slow time to highlight the deep expressive potential that their instruments hold. Both musicians have backgrounds in contemporary music and have been central figures in the Berlin free improvisation scene for many years. For their debut release, Pavonis, they were joined by poet Adam Flint, an orbiting third member, framing the music with constellations of images, concepts and language drawn from his poetry, occult thought and science-fiction.
